Don’t let anyone tell you different!
I am sure, like me, you have experienced muscle tension, headaches, and the aches and pains associated with an active lifestyle. I have personally found that massage therapy allows me to function normally without the aid of pharmaceuticals or invasive surgical procedures.
I understand how it feels to experience the type of pain that goes beyond just physical discomfort… pain that also has a negative emotional impact. My goal is to relieve my clients of their physical and emotional discomfort through the application of massage that is tailored to their individual needs.

Did You Know? National Massage Therapy Awareness Week is October 25 – 31.
The week is designed to raise public awareness of the benefits of therapeutic massage and encourage Americans to use massage therapy as a healthy tool for stress relief.
Massage therapy can be used as an integral of maintaining good health and is also complementary to other therapeutic processes.

Kinesio Massage views the body as a neuro-muscular-skeletal system. During an assessment, the therapist factors in feedback of all three systems. By understanding the bio-feedback, coupled with the particular body-type of the client (ecto, meso or endomorph), the therapist can then tailor a protocol that specifically addresses the clients needs. The goal is to determine the most effective and efficient protocol to treat the client’s orthopedic pain condition.
This provides a therapist the means for effective analysis, assessment and application in addressing common and complicated pain conditions. The application of Kinesio massage uses specific orthopedic massage modalities that are tailored for the particular somatotype and pain condition.

Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) was developed by a man named Aaron Mattes, who has not only been using this stretching technique on his clients for many years, he has also been teaching AIS to thousands of health practitioners over the same period of time.
The biggest difference between AIS over conventional stretching is that conventional stretching attempts to stretch muscles when they are not fully relaxed while AIS aims to stretch muscles when they are maximally relaxed. This allows those who practice Active Isolated Stretching to provide effective stretches with low risk of injury.
AIS uses a mechanism known as reciprocal inhibition to stretch muscles when they are maximally relaxed. For instance, when the goal is to stretch your left hamstring muscle with AIS, you begin by contracting your left quadriceps muscle for a few seconds, which causes your left hamstring muscle to relax via reciprocal inhibition.
This is followed immediately by a brief, intense, and controlled stretch of your left hamstring muscle while it is still in a state of relaxation.
This same method can be applied to any opposing groups of muscles in your body. If you want to stretch your lower back, you should precede your lower back stretch with a period of contraction of your abdominal muscles. If you want to stretch your calf muscles, you should begin by flexing the muscles that line the front of your legs (the area that runners associate with shin splints). If you want to stretch a bicep muscle, you should begin by flexing the tricep muscle on the same arm and so on.
Proponents of AIS say that this method is much more effective than conventional stretching methods that do not take advantage of reciprocal inhibition. In fact, some practitioners who use AIS in their practices believe that conventional stretching methods that do not take advantage of reciprocal inhibition can actually do more harm than good, since conventional methods can illicit a self-protective, contractile response in muscles being stretched.

Fibromyalgia is a medical condition characterized by chronic widespread pain and a heightened and painful response to pressure in the muscle and connective tissues. Because fibromyalgia involves more than just pain, the term “fibromyalgia syndrome” is often used.
Other symptoms of fibromyalgia may include debilitating fatigue, tingling of the skin, joint stiffness, prolonged muscle spasms, weakness in the limbs, nerve pain, functional bowel disturbances and chronic sleep disturbances. Not all affected persons experience all associated symptoms.
Although fibromyalgia is classified based on the presence of chronic widespread pain, the pain associated with fibromyalgia may also be localized in specific areas of the body such as: shoulders, neck, low back, hips etc.
Many sufferers find that regularly scheduled therapeutic massage can greatly reduce or eliminate the symptoms of fibromyalgia.

Therapeutic massage is the manual manipulation of the body’s soft tissue for the purpose of stimulating circulation and promoting relaxation. It has been used in many cultures around the world for more than 4,000 years to promote and maintain health and wellbeing.
Therapeutic massage is not only used for the reduction of stress and pain, but it has also been shown to boost the immune system as well. Since most diseases are exacerbated by stress, therapeutic massage can help you become and stay healthier.
Therapeutic massage can help with the following:
